National Women's Register is an
organisation for women of all ages and interests. Each group meets
in members' homes for discussions on a variety of serious and
light-hearted topics and occasionally we have speakers, outings to the
theatre or concerts and attend events with other groups.

The Beverley Group
The Beverley branch of N W R was set up in 1973. We have around
25 members many of whom have
been with the group for a number of years. We have been lucky that, as
members have left because of a change of commitments or moving house, there have
always been new women interested in coming along to give the group a try.
We try to make our 6 monthly programme varied
with one speaker each session and 2 or 3 subjects which need a bit of research.
One of the favourite topics is to take a country and research different aspects
such as geography, customs and culture; we all bring food associated with the
country to help us to get a feel for the place.
There are a few social occasions each year
when our partners can be involved if they want to eg a party in January and an
open air concert visit in the summer.

NEW AFTERNOON MEETINGS
As
many of the Beverley members are now retired we have scheduled in a monthly
afternoon meeting starting in June. There will be no need for research as
we will be discussing subjects in the news so just come along with a newspaper,
a cutting or just join in with the discussion when you get there.

Book
Group
Our
own private "library" of books built up over the last 13 years at the
monthly meetings. We have just bought book number 1500!!
Supper
Club
This
involves about a dozen members, mostly with their partners, getting together in
groups of 5 or 6 to enjoy a meal once a month
Events
Most
years a small committee will organise an event involving NWR members from other
groups eg quizzes, conferences, discussion lunches.
