web site. Go to the Area Page for details of the other groups in the North East Area. NEWS !!!NE 01/03/04 AREAS The Beverley GroupThe Beverley branch of N W R was set up in 1973. We have around 27 members many of whom have
been with the group for a number of years. We have been lucky that, as
members have left because of a change of commitments or moving house, there have
always been new women interested in coming along to give the group a try.
We try to make our 6 monthly programme varied
with one speaker each session and 2 or 3 subjects which need a bit of research.
One of the favourite topics is to take a country and research different aspects
such as geography, customs and culture; we all bring food associated with the
country to help us to get a feel for the place. There are a few social occasions each year
when our partners can be involved if they want to eg a party in January and an
open air concert visit in the summer. Please take a look at our current programme. You can also search this site.
Extra Beverley Group ActivitiesWe have a few off-shoots
to which some of the members belong: Our own private "library" of books built up over the last 12 years at the monthly meetings. We have just bought book number 1200!! This
involves about a dozen members, mostly with their partners, getting together in
groups of 5 or 6 to enjoy a meal once a month Most
years a small committee will organise an event involving NWR members from other
groups eg quizzes, conferences, discussion lunches.
